Regional Fellow Meeting Madrid

The Canon Foundation held its 18th Regional Fellow Meeting for southern Europe in Madrid on November 18, 2009 at the Casino de Madrid, Spain.

Like last year, Alumni Fellows gave poster presentations on their current research topics. Special Guest-of-Honour at the meeting was Mr. Ryoichi Bamba, President and CEO Canon Europe, Middle East and Africa. The meeting was followed by the 2009 Canon Foundation Invited Lecture – the 3rd in the series of Canon Invited Lectures where Professor Ramón Tamames spoke on European and Asian approaches to a global currency (click here to download a PDF-file of the speech in English or here in Spanish).

The Canon Foundation was honoured that  Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain agreed to chair the event. A reception then lunch followed on from the lecture.

This year’s 2009 Canon Foundation recipient

Mr. Rodrigo Fernandez, Chairman Canon Foundation Executive Committee bestows a certificate on 2009 Canon Foundation in Europe’s Research Fellow Dr. Chaurand, Mr. Bamba and Mr. Van Agt, Honorary Chairman of the Canon Foundation.
